"Confess your Sins" by Jerry Robinson
Sin has been defined as the “deliberate disobedience to the known will of God.” The Bible has declared that all men are sinners and that every human has fallen short of the glorious high standards set by God. (Romans 3:23) This disobedience, called sin, first infiltrated humanity through the fall of Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden. Since then, it has served as an eternal death sentence upon mankind. Because sin is the ultimate offense to a Holy and Just God, He will not tolerate sin in His presence. This means that mankind's sin has condemned mankind to an eternity away from the presence of God. But thanks be to God that He has provided a way of escape from our sinful state! How? Through the life, death, and resurrection of the second Adam, Jesus Christ. When Jesus Christ shed His blood at the cross of Calvary, he became our sacrifice. it made it possible for every sinful human being to be fully cleansed of their sin. has been offered the chance to have their sins erased! When a human being repents of his sins and places his trust and faith in the Risen Savior, Jesus Christ, his sins are immediately forgiven. Glory to God! With a single act of miraculous redemption at the cross, we are now able to be declared righteous in the courtrooms of heaven. Because of the shed blood of Christ, God no longer holds sinners, who repent and trust in the redeeming power of the blood, accountable for the sin nature that once dominated their lives. But even after we repent, place our faith in Christ, and receive forgiveness of our sins at salvation, we will find that we still sin. At our salvation, our relationship to God was solidified, never again to be changed. At salvation, God adopted us as his child into His family. God the Father became our Father and we have become His child. And while our relationship with God has been settled, our fellowship with God requires work on our part. To maintain fellowship with the Father requires that we maintain the purity that He has placed into us. In order to live in a state of unbroken fellowship with the Lord requires us to maintain a spirit of humility. When we sin, we must be quick to confess our sin and to ask forgiveness. As a follower of Christ, you cannot live your life in a state of sinful rebellion and think that God will automatically forgive you because He loves you. But we are promised that “if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us of our sins, and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” Do you have any unconfessed sin in your life right now? If so, it could be hindering your walk with God and could be a source of spiritual frustration. Take time to examine yourself before the Lord. Ask Him to reveal to you any sins that need to be confessed. Then confess them and enjoy the sweet fellowship that God has graciously allowed you to have with Him. Let it never be said that we were to busy to cultivate a friendship with God. Remember, it cost Him everything to make it possible.
