The Joseph-Jesus Pattern

The Bible is filled with many fascinating patterns, some of which are extremely interesting. One such pattern is found between the man Joseph of the Old Testament and the man Jesus Christ in the New Testament.

The Joseph-Jesus Pattern – Slideshow Presentation

Below is a visual comparison chart of some of the similarities between Joseph and Jesus… or as we call it The Joseph-Jesus Pattern.

DISPENSATIONAL PATTERNS OF JOSEPH AS A MODEL OF JESUS

The Life of Joseph The Life of Jesus
Betrayed by his Jewish brothers into the hands of Gentiles & God turned the betrayal around for all Israel and all the world to be saved Betrayed by his Jewish brothers into the hands of Gentiles & God turned the betrayal around for all Israel and all the world to be saved
Joseph was betrayed by his brother Yehuda(Judah) for twenty pieces of silver. Jesus, the son of Joseph, was also betrayed specifically by Yehuda (Judas) for thirty pieces of silver.
Condemned with two criminals – one of whom lived while the other died. Condemned with two criminals – one of whom lived while the other died.
Upon his exaltation, Joseph took a Gentile bride. As does Jesus as the Bridegroom.
Joseph was not recognized by his Jewish brothers at his first coming, but at the second they wept over him. Jesus was not recognized by His Jewish brothers at His First Coming, but at the Second they, too, shall weep.
Joseph was beloved of his father Jesus is beloved of the Father
Joseph was falsely accused at an unfair trial. Jesus was falsely accused at an unfair trial.
Joseph’s cloak was taken as proof that he was no longer in the pit. Jesus’ burial cloak was taken as proof that He was no longer in the tomb.

Can you explain on Joseph’s side; Taken from a place of condemnation to a place of exaltation-after three-day interval. Cannot find this in the bible.

Sal, this reference is based on extrabiblical sources (predominantly rabbinical writings). Your comment however reminded me that I meant to take that comparison out prior to publication due to that fact. I have removed it from the above table for now. Good eye! Thanks for being a Berean.
